Overview

The process step by step

Step 1: Entry permit (2–4 weeks) Your UAE employer applies for an employment entry permit through the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHRE) portal. This allows you to enter UAE and begin the residency process.

Step 2: Medical examination (3–5 days) All residence permit applicants must complete a medical fitness test at a UAE-approved health centre. This tests for TB, HIV, and hepatitis B and C.

Step 3: Emirates ID application (1–2 weeks) Biometrics are taken at an ICP (Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship) centre. Your Emirates ID arrives within 5–7 working days.

Step 4: Residence permit stamping (1–2 weeks) The residence permit is stamped in your passport. Standard permits are valid for 2 years. Golden Visa permits are valid for 5 or 10 years.

Employer not being MOHRE-registered. Verify your employer is registered with the UAE Ministry of Human Resources before accepting a job offer. Unregistered employers cannot sponsor visas.
